For those wondering where to buy CAD software, you have a couple of choices.

You can purchase CAD programs like AutoCAD directly from CAD resellers, or, you can buy CAD software online.

If buying CAD online, many programs can be directly downloaded to your computer. You can then make a backup copy on a CD ROM.

The CAD/CAM industry is saturated with CAD vendors so there is no shortage of computer-aided design programs to meet your needs.

CAD software prices can vary. They range from very expensive to relatively cheap, and even free in some cases. Be sure to do your homework before buying CADD online or contacting a CAD reseller.

CAD Drawings

When looking for a drafting service to produce your CAD drawings, it is important to ask how the drawings are produced.

For instance, if you are after a paper to CAD conversion, does the service provider use automated software or do they reproduce the CAD drawing manually? The latter would be more accurate of course.

Is there a quality assurance program in place before the CAD files are sent to you? How many times have you outsourced drafting work out only to receive CAD plans that have not been checked properly. Sending work back for re-checking and corrections is a time waster. Of course no one is perfect, and mistakes can happen, but blatant CAD errors should be caught in a proper Q&A check.
